FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (Aug. 1, 2007) - If you are looking to satisfy your taste and discover new recipes, your appetite will be further enhanced by the gastronomic cruise on board MSC Lirica, with a wide selection of wine and food tasting opportunities... with lots of temptations!
MSC Lirica will depart Sept. 2 from Copenhagen, followed by Harwich, with an optional excursion to William the Conquerors Castle (11th Century) in Colchester, the oldest English city, or visit Cambridge.
From here, the ship cruises southwards to Spain and La Coruna, followed by Lisbon and then Gibraltar, Britain?s last European colony. Next port of call is Malaga, followed by Olbia on the fashionable Costa Smeralda before arriving in Genoa on Sept. 12
On board, a veritable cornucopia of enjoyment awaits aspiring chefs and those willing to abandon themselves to sampling. Join culinary demonstrations where professionals teach the preparation of specialties from Italy and the countries visited en route. Chat with chefs to learn the tricks of the trade, to ensure you cook the perfect pasta, rice, meat and fish and how to best conserve food. Wine lovers will be equally spoiled with expert and passionate sommeliers offering tastings, following the map of wine from cities famed for their vintage cellars.
Receive guidance to choose the perfect wine to accompany the perfect meal as you discover regional specialties. The barmen will also be on hand to demonstrate how to make the best international cocktails. Guests will receive a special "wine dictionary" to help them improve and expand their global wine knowledge. Particular attention is paid to the art of hospitality with lessons on how to serve food and drinks, how to set a table and arrange the centerpieces and place settings.
The program includes games and races, all themed on culinary subjects, including a memory quiz on the name of drinks, international food and ingredients to test all those aspiring chefs!
Every evening there will be a big party with a selection of special menus served at the various on board restaurants. This will include light meals, vegetarian dishes, deserts sweetened with artificial sweeteners suitable for diabetic guests, as well as kosher food on request.
Cruise-only prices begin at $1,095 (per person, double occupancy) based on MSC Cruises' "Best Fare, Best Room" promotion, which provides guests with the best stateroom available within their desired category at the time of booking. In addition, youngsters ages 17 and under sharing a stateroom with two full-fare-paying adults sail free. Government fees and taxes are additional for all guests.
As an added bonus, North American residents who place a reservation need only place a $100 deposit per person, based on double occupancy.
