Costa Cruises to Deploy Costa Favolosa to Middle East in 2011

October 18, 2011 - At the opening session of the Seatrade Middle East Cruise Convention today in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Costa Cruises President Gianni Onorato announced the company will deploy the 3,800-passenger Costa Favolosa in the Middle East for the 2011-12 season.

In 2006 Costa Cruises was the first cruise company to operate seasonally in the Middle East, and by deploying its newest flagship there, Costa solidifies its leadership role in the U.A.E. market.

“Costa Favolosa will be the largest and most advanced ship ever deployed in the region,” said Onorato during the opening plenary session of Seatrade Middle East. “She will offer our guests the truly unique opportunity to visit the most intriguing destinations in the U.A.E. and Oman on board an Italian cruise ship providing superb comfort, exclusive services and state-of-the-art, high-tech entertainment.”

Costa Favolosa will make 58 port calls in the U.A.E. during winter 2011-12, and expects approximately 233,000 passenger movements.

From Dec. 16, 2011, through April 6, 2012, Costa Favolosa will sail the exotic seas of the Arabian Gulf on the “Jewels of the Emirates” itinerary. The seven-night cruises start with two days at Dubai, one-day calls at Muscat, Oman; Fujairah and Abu Dhabi, U.A.E., and Khasab, Oman, and end with an overnight stay at Dubai.
