Saga Rose
« on: April 06, 2009, 03:23:04 AM »
I have just had a look at Saga cruises for 2009 and 2010.
:'( and it has Saga Rose with its farewell cruise listed as 30th October 2009.
A 37 night cruise.
I did not know she was due to retire.
Anyone have any information as to what will happen to her? :o :o.
She may be an old lady, but a graceful looking ship.
 Cheers,
P & P.

Saga Rose.Yesterday.

She looked a wee bit lost. Exercising her legs going around and around at 1 kn.
This may explain a bit, the latest news from Maritime Matter(thank you Sir).

"Saga Rose departed Southampton with a crew of 66 on December 7 (following the end of her service for Saga Holidays), she remains in the Eastern Anchorage, about 2 miles off Gibraltar, awaiting "orders". It remains unclear what her next destination will be".

I just hope the orders, when they come, do not start with the dreaded... "A" letter.

From Gib it is easy and cheaper to sail south via Cape Town to............Alang :'( :'( :'(

Hope not, really hope not.

POPEYE. :'(

Saga Rose on sea trials?  Is this another miss-print?  Popeye, do you know anything about this?

Frank can find no new info.
Not seen the "Sea Trials" label before.
She has been here some weeks now "going no where" just around and around in circles.
Believe the movement is to keep the crew active and for her to stretch her sea legs now and again.
Must be boring for the crew.
More worrying for Saga Rose if no buyer is interested in her.
 :'( :'(

POPEYE :'(

Not that it helps solve the mystery but it says "trails" not "trials".   It's doing what N Dream did in Greece for so long, going in circles  :(  Maybe it means it's leaving trails  ???

This is the latest l have picked up from people in Gibraltar.

"This morning from Gibraltar, Saga Rose in port and has been fitted with another anchor.

During a recent storm, she broke her springs ( Wire mooring ropes ) but there was no damage reported.

Saga Rose is expected to go back to the east side anchorage later today".

This from people close to the news and live and see her most days.
No news on her future :'(.
When l spot something new, will post.

And here she is in Gibraltar today being repaired and receiving a new anchor.
Welcome shore trip for the crew no doubt.
Appears she came in on 1st or 2nd Feb.
