FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (JANUARY 9, 2009) – MSC Cruises has announced a new 2009-10 Caribbean program featuring MSC Poesia. The ship, which joined the MSC Cruises fleet in spring 2008, will sail itineraries of 3-, 5, 7-, 8- and 10-nights throughout the Caribbean sea and to Bermuda during the winter season before returning to Europe in spring 2010.

“MSC Poesia’s program will feature a variety of itinerary lengths and destinations, offering a full range of choices to guests in the Caribbean,” says Richard E. Sasso, president and CEO, MSC Cruises (USA), Inc.

MSC Poesia will arrive in Fort Lauderdale Nov. 10, 2009, after a 17-night transatlantic journey from Venice. Her Caribbean season will include the following:

·         5-night sailings: Nov. 10, Nov. 15 and Jan. 3
·         10-night itineraries – beginning Nov. 20
·         7-night Christmas itinerary, departing Dec. 20
·         7-night New Year’s itinerary, departing Dec. 27
·         7-night itineraries – a variety of itineraries Jan. 16-April 10
·         7-night Bermuda itinerary – departing April 17, features 3 nights in Bermuda
·         3-night Bahamas cruise, departing April 24

MSC Poesia departs Fort Lauderdale April 27 on an 18-night transatlantic voyage to Kiel.

MSC Poesia features 1,275 staterooms, of which 80% are outside staterooms and 65% have a balcony. There will be 236,000 square feet of public spaces, 2 pools and 4 hot tubs, plus a 13,000-square-foot spa. Guests can select from four restaurants, including a Sushi Bar alternative dining restaurant.

Like her sister ships (MSC Musica and MSC Orchestra), MSC Poesia features sophisticated and elegant decor, attention to detail, the finest in international entertainment and Italian hospitality.

Although the new MSC Magnifica, currently under construction at STX France, will not be completed in time for the ship to join MSC Poesia in North America for the 2009-10 Caribbean program, the ship is expected to arrive in North America in fall 2010 to inaugurate MSC Cruises’ first Canada/New England program.

MSC Magnifica, complete with magrodome for magnificent views, will sail roundtrip Fall Foliage itineraries from New York and Quebec City before sailing to Fort Lauderdale to join MSC Lirica for the 2010-11 Caribbean season.
