Thanks to Phyllis and to Lena for producing the slideshow.  I struggled to do it but failed !  My captures are of the last hour as QE2 docked in Dubai.

Very nice tribute everyone, to a grand old lady.
We were in Southampton on the 11 November.
Could have kicked myself for not checking when she was due in and sailing for the last time.
We had a flight to catch back to Thailand that afternoon   .
But I did see a lot of TV coverage of her grand arrival.
Boy was it grand...running aground on a sand bank just off Southampton early in the morning.
TY pictures non stop.
Think she may have been trying to say something.
I have seen her many times but it will be sad not to see those wonderful lines again.
Unless I go to Dubai. Still did  to her from our hotel window before we left for the airport as we could just see the superstructure.
 Cheers,
P & P.

Yes a lot of people said that.
They had a lot of TV crews at the quay side waiting for her to arrive.
They even managed to make contact with a passenger on board via a mobile to tell what was going on.
They claimed it was a small bump noise. Took 4 tugs to free her,not sure if a pilot was on board or the Captain was in charge at the time of the grounding. However rather embarrassing with all that media waiting just down the water :-[ :-[.
Here are 2 photos taken of the old lady in October 2005.
Part of my favourite collection.
My contribution to her farewell.

 Cheers,
P & P.

Beautiful pictures... I will miss it mostly because it looks like a ship SHOULD, not like a floating HOTEL...

Thank You for those images!

Agree frank m....a real ship.
The day after I took these photos the Queen Mary 2 was in the same berth.
We took the same little ferry over to Hythe and I took some photos of her as it was the first time I had seen her.
I just did not get that "buzz" feeling I got every time I saw Q E 2.
I was just a young man when I watched the TV coverage of the Q E 2 launch from the Clyde in Scotland.
I said ..one day I will see her with my own eyes and one day I will sail on her.
The first I did many times, but alas, my second wish, never came true :'( :'(.
Such is life...did someone say they had some tissues ::).
 Cheers,
P & P.
