Title: Gatun cam
Post by: exnavy Bill on September 18, 2007, 11:51:18 AM
Has the Gatun cam been replaced? The picture is much brighter and clearer the last few days. Maybe they cleaned the lens or maybe I cleaned my glasses. :)

Wonder what this was ?  It's a static camera, so it was a moving object.  Gone in the space of 3 minutes !

Here are some good pictures I found online that show the Titan crane in action.

I emailed the canal Friday asking about the down cam, and said I hope it would be fix today so it wasn't off all weekend, which it was. Seems it was a little busy on Friday at the canal. I just got a answer. ( Sorry, Friday was a national holiday and also the weekend of the presidential elections. I already requested that technicians check this out.) I just checked and the cam is back on.

Military Ships. Does anyone know anything about these two ships. I see Military Ships a lot transiting the canal, but one coming in right after another is the first time for me. C.C.13

they actually moved the Gatun camera direction!  Maybe they've done that before but I'd never noticed it until now.

I was told they were waiting for the joy stick. Looks like they got it. The cam went off for about 45 minutes this morning before it came on with the new look. I like it.   thumbup C.C.13

This one took me a while. Vessel Tracker had it going out into the Atlantic, but destination was San Francisco. Have pictures from the new Gatun cam, but to low in the water. C.C.13

Linda, I think maybe that's what confused you.  There is two USCGC's, one in each direction...   Here is Boutwell (WB)  I saw the same as you did, the Sun is not a friend today...

I am sure most of you have seen this, but for the people that haven't. I knew the car carrier's are big, but I didn't realize how big until I watched this video. The video is not inside of the Talisman, but I guess most are about the same. C.C.13

It seems every time a sub transits the canal they turn the cams off. If you look close you can make the sub out and all the little rubber rafts around her.  For some reason a lot of the sailor's like to ride the rafts instead of the sub when transiting the canal.  C.C.13

I was told that not all ships or sub's have the cams turned off, but the country's that request it, they have to turn them off. With every thing going on in the world today I would like to know what country has sub's or war ships transiting the canal. C.C.13

Hello from Spain.

Can someone please confirm how I bookmark the new live HR Gatun cam. Every time I try to bookmark it a jpeg photo appears instead of the live cam. I have both for Miraflores, live and jpeg.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Donkeyoatay.

I don't know if the wind moved the Gatun Hi-Res cam or what, but you can see a lot more to the right. I noticed the clock is still off, let's get use to it and let them fix it on their own. After the cams being down for so long, I don't want to say anything about the clock and get someone mad and then they turn the cam off. I am sure they will fix it in time. C.C.13

Look way in the background and you will see the Oriana in Colon, Panama. A lot of cruise ships stop at Colon, but don't transit the canal at that time, and some never do.  C.C.13
