Title: Military Ships from all Countries
Post by: Cape Cod 13 on January 21, 2010, 05:39:17 PM
I don't think she is one of ours, from the flag, which isn't to clear, and the men are not in whites. Help. Maybe someone can get better info at the Miraflores Locks. C.C.13  :help: ???

I can tell by the flag she is out of Panama. They had a hard time getting off to Haiti, so I think they are leaving tonight. See the people waving at the visitor's center, which would be closed at 5:00p.m. C.C.13

Thanks Frank. I better look at the flag a little better next time. I know Panama used the President's new plane a couple of days ago to go to Haiti. I still can't understand the Visitor's Center being opened and the people waving. That's why I thought she was out of Panama. Well at least I got the part right about going to Haiti. Looks like Mexico has spent a lot of ships, good for them. How did you find the web site? That was some good work.

The Courbet is a second-line multi-mission stealth frigate of the French Marine Nationale. She is the third French vessel named after the 19th century admiral Amédée Courbet.

The Courbet took part in Opération Baliste. On 3rd of October 2006, an Israeli fighter penetrated her 2-nautical-mile (4 km) defence perimeter without responding radio calls, triggering a diplomatic incident. Israel apologised after official protests from the French government [1]. Throughout September the ship was involved in anti-piracy operations off the coast of Somalia, helping to recapture a yacht taken by pirates on September 2nd.

L3008  RFA Mounts Bay having some R&R in Nassau
RFA Mounts Bay is a Bay-class auxiliary landing ship dock of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary. She is named after Mount's Bay in Cornwall.   Apparently she has been assisting in hurricane relief in the Caribbean.
